HIPs Home Information Packs are now compulsory for all marketed properties . There are advantages to having a HIP in that it can speed up the sale of your house and makes it less likely that the sale could fall through.
EPCs. The Energy Performance Certificate comes as part of the Hip pack or you can commission one on its own. It assesses your house’s ability to keep in the heat. And also estimates the CO2 emissions (18- 22% of all CO2 emissions in the UK are from residential homes). Recommendations are then made suggesting how money can be saved on heating bills.
There is no “pass or fail” mark, it is merely an assessment offering information on how to improve the energy efficiency of the house. Implementing the EPC’s recommendations will mean less CO2 emissions and the new owner can save money.

- You instruct HIPSWALES to complete a HIP for you.
- A DEA (Domestic Energy Assessor) will visit the property to make an EPC assessment (1-11/2 hrs)
- You will need to complete a Property Information Questionnaire. The DEA can bring it with them or it can be e-mailed to you.
- The HIP should be ready within the next seven days. You can then legally market your property.
